Next Tuesday, May 18th Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) would have an anniversary for its 40 years old. Congratulation to UKM not only for the anniversary, but for good news that UKM is among the top ranking of 100 universities in Asia 2010 and in fact UKM among the top five universities of Malaysia.
According to QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd Managing Director that surveyed the quality of universities that Malaysian universities had done well with most institutions holding close last year position or improving. UKM is the second highest University ranking after Universiti Malaya which is the highest ranked at 42 in Asia, while UKM second at 58, Universiti Sains Malaysia third ranked at 69. The fourth ranking is Universiti Putra Malaya at 77 followed by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia at 82 and the last International Islamic University of Malaysia at 159. Last year UKM (65), UM (39), USM (69), UPM (90), UTM (82) and UIAM (201). The University of Hong Kong tops the Asian University Rankings followed by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The National University of Singapore and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
As one of the pioneer students (from May 1970 – 1974) and as lecturer at the university for 25 years we proud the UKM position and hope the university would improve and scaling to the top ranking in the future – Insha Allah.
